The National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan reminds that the period of parallel circulation for the old-style 2000 tenge banknotes is coming to an end.
Circulation Period
The old 2000 tenge banknotes will remain legal tender until June 24, 2026. Until this date, all businesses are required to accept them alongside the new banknotes.
Exchange Rules
If citizens do not use the old banknotes before the deadline, they can exchange them at:
- Second-tier banks and “Kazpost” branches — within 3 years after the circulation period ends.
- National Bank branches — indefinitely.
It is also reported that the circulation period for the old 10,000 tenge banknotes has been extended until June 2027. The gradual withdrawal of old notes is part of the introduction of the new “Saka Style” series.
